Finding child care that works for your family is hard enough, interviewing complete strangers who will be watching your children with no direct supervision is even tougher. How can you make certain you're making the right choice?

1. Ask for references and check them!
2. Do a background check. It won't tell you whether they are a good child care provider, but it will tell you whether or not they are a felon, among other things.
3. How do you know whether or not they are a good provider? Check their licensing record with the State of Colorado. You can search by name, business name or license number. License number is a more accurate search so don't be afraid to ask the provider for their number. This report will tell you whether the license is current, what the license covers, and any complaints that have been filed.
