Eddie Scyffore and Blanche Burr have been searching for closure since tragedy struck.

"We’re just playing the waiting game, that's what we're doing right now," said Scyffore.

Ivan, their 3-year-old grandson, died Thursday. Police say something went wrong inside his daycare, the Skelly Early Childhood Education Center, Thursday.  Moments after Eddie dropped Ivan off, his grandson was rushed to the hospital, and died in the ambulance.
However, it's what led up to that point that leaves them shaking their head.

"We just want answers," said Scyffore.

The daycare is run by Community Action Project, for low-income families. CAP's attorney says the facility is reeling from Ivan’s death. He told us over the phone, CAP is cooperating with investigators, and that a teacher performed CPR immediately after noticing something wrong with Ivan. He says he's waiting on final results from an autopsy, and so are these grandparents.

"Obviously, we want answers, but they're not being forth-coming," said Scyffore.

They’re speaking on their daughter's behalf, as they say the pain was too much to bear. They declined to say if DHS has ever visited the family.

“That’s something I’d rather not discuss, she had an incident before," said Burr.

Police say initial medical examinations show Ivan had some sort of cookie in his mouth. Records also show he had a tumor near his stomach. However, police cannot say if either was the exact cause of death. So now these grandparents are left waiting.

“I can't believe that it’s happened, that my grandson is no longer here," said Burr.

The family tells me funeral arrangements are being made for early next week.
As for the autopsy results that could take 10 days, or it could take 5 months.
The Department of Human Services says the daycare has passed all inspections with no deficiencies. There were no complaints. It has been open since August of last year. It has earned one of three stars in the state rating system. DHS says that's common for newer facilities.
